reese witherspoonThe vampires were only a hot item for about a week as Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon’s surprising hit comedy “Four Christmases” easily won the box office top spot with a take of $46.7 million in the 4-day holiday weekend run.

If that estimated amount hold, it would make the comedy the third-best Thanksgiving weekend opener ever, after Toy Story 2 ($80M) and last year’s Enchanted ($49M). It’s also a best for Vaughn since ‘The Break-Up’, and it’s Witherspoon’s best since ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ more than six years back.

robertThe vampire-loves-mortal high school girl flick ‘Twilight’ and beautiful dude Robert Pattinson, but mostly beautiful dude Robert Pattinson, were the reason tens of thousands of tween and teen girls spent the past three days screaming at the theater big screens.

The film scored a big $70 million on its opening weekend, which guarantees it that the rest of the vampire book series will be made into films.

cruiseIt’s been rumored all year that Tom Cruise’s upcoming Nazi flick is bad, bad, bad. So bad, in fact, that they’ve re-tooled it but the snickers and comments keep coming - now that a few people have actually SEEN the film. It’s set to be released on Dec. 26 since they have no more reasons to delay this bomb any longer.

MSNBC’s The Scoop got the scoop from a member of an advanced screening audience who said that people in the theater laughed uncomfortably at what is being marketed as a thriller.

daniel craigSean Connery may have been voted by fans as the all time favorite James Bond, but blondie Daniel Craig is breaking all US box office records with his incarnation of the 007 British Agent. Craig’s film “Quantum of Solace” opened on Friday and went on to score a $70.4 million weekend.

The leaner, blonder, more brooding Bond as played by Craig has proven to be a hit with the fans, despite early predictions that the actor would “ruin” the Bond brand. Looks now like he revived the tired franchise and gave it new life.

pattinsonKiddie fans of the bloodsucker Vampire series “Twilight” waited hours to see hunky actor Robert Pattinson in San Francisco’s Stonestown Galleria yesterday, but when things got ugly cops came in to clear out the developing mosh pit.

The rough crowd of 3,000 tweens and teenage girls had turned out hoping for an autograph or a glimpse of Pattinson at the meet and greet. But when the large mob all tried to get into the mall at the same time, hilarity ensued.

beyonce knowles“I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman?” Beyonce Knowles told LA Times blog Hero Complex. “It would be great.”

Whoa. Didn’t Beyonce see Halle Barry in that awful Catwoman flick? The whole chick-in-a-costume kicking ass is tough to pull off, but Beyonce is convinced it will work for her. Why you ask? Because she’s totally in love with the costume. Not the role — the COSTUME.

madonnaWhoever though Madonna directing a major motion picture was a brilliant idea needs to have their head examined. Oh wait. That would be Madge herself. The Kaballah inspired material girl released her directorial debut film “Filth and Wisdom” on October 17 but it’s been a bomb at the box office.

She got the usual adoring reviews from critics who have been in love with Madonna during her entire career, but average theater goers could not have ignored this film more and film critics have dismissed it as a vanity project.

davinci-hanksA new teaser trailer has been released on the web for the upcoming Tom Hanks movie ‘Angels and Demons.” The sequel to the 2007 flick ‘The Da Vinci Code’ sees the return of Robert Langdon, Professor of Religious Symbology, who will follow more clues written on and around dead bodies (cardinals this time), cryptic messages, car chases, and groups with a vendetta against the Catholic Church.

By the looks of the trailer, what won’t be back in this sequel is Hanks’ bad hair days.

zac efron“High School Musical 3″ had a record opening for a song-and-dance flick with a $42 million haul, despite the fact that it’s star, Zac Efron, is anything but a dancer.

Efron recently told Heat magazine that he’s rhythm-challenged: “I’m definitely not a dancer, in any way. I’m the last one to get any move correctly. It’s something to do with rhythm.”

howardIt came as a surprise announced last week that Terrence Howard was being replaced in the role of James “Rhodey” Rhodes in “Iron Man 2″ by Don Cheadle. Naturally, everyone thought it was because Howard has priced himself out of the job but Howard says it isn’t so.

Hee is as bewildered as everyone else as to why he lost the plumb role. “It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation, [it] just up and vanished,” he says.
